Port Harcourt — The Federal Government has pledged strong support for Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited’s expansion plans aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s gas-based industrialization and deepening investment in the petrochemical sector.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, gave the assurance when he received a delegation from Indorama, led by its Managing Director Manish Mundra and Vice President of Management Services, Anil Rana, at his office in the NNPC Towers, Abuja.
Indorama presented key milestones from its Eleme Petrochemical Complex and outlined future expansion projects designed to enhance Nigeria’s utilisation of gas for industrial growth.
The company also solicited the Ministry’s support in resolving operational challenges and securing regulatory backing for upcoming investments.
In his remarks, Minister Ekpo described Indorama as a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s gas value chain and commended its ongoing contribution to the economy.
“We welcome genuine investors and will continue to provide a conducive environment for businesses like Indorama that are adding value to our gas resources. You can count on this Ministry’s full cooperation in facilitating your operations and resolving any outstanding issues.”
Ekpo also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging gas as a catalyst for industrialisation, job creation, and national economic development.
“We are prioritising gas development as a national strategy, and your expansion aligns perfectly with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Minister added.
Indorama’s Eleme complex, located in Rivers State, is one of Africa’s largest integrated petrochemical and fertiliser facilities and a key player in Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
The company is currently pursuing major expansions in fertiliser, methanol, and other gas-based chemical production to deepen its impact on the Nigerian economy.
