Advanced Reservoir Engineer Job

Overview: Marathon Oil’s Oklahoma & Northern Delaware Portfolio Team is currently seeking a Reservoir Engineer, based out of Houston, Texas. The team is responsible for subsurface inputs and results, sanction efforts, portfolio optimization, economics, managing non-operated assets, commercial efforts, competitor intelligence, reserves management, production variance analysis, and managing Subsurface tools and databases.




  • Function as prospect dedicated reservoir engineer focused in Oklahoma sub-group

    • Responsible for top-down bottom-up characterization of resources, productivity, and economic viability of area
    • Analyze trends and actual performance relative to forecasts including use of rate-transient analysis to describe drivers of variance and generate learnings
    • Characterization of infill PVT across all phase windows (black oil to dry gas) of area
    • Responsible for all engineering sanction inputs and presentation aspects for dedicated prospect area

  • Responsible for organic inventory growth through leveraging learnings, arbitrage and market dynamics at low-to-no cost
  • Manage engineering-driven business processes for production forecasting (decline curves, type curves, and well attributes)
  • Assist with internal/external slide preparation for investor relations, earnings release, etc.
  • Responsible for commercial efforts for prospect

    • Highly integrated role in supporting trades, swaps, farm-outs, ghost opportunities

  • Support Competitive Intelligence process for OK sub-group
  • Collaborate on reserves and POD management process



Minimum Requirements:

Education:                         Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field

Experience:                       7+ years of engineering experience in oil & gas

Technical Skills:               RTA, DCA, TC construction, prospect development optimization, competitor analysis

Software Proficiency:     Aries, Harmony, Enersight, Spotfire, Microsoft Office, Enverus, ComboCurve

Other Skills:       Must possess excellent communication, teamwork, planning, and organizational skills
