ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

  • The Environmental & Regulatory Advisor role is in a central organization based in Spring, Texas and will perform air permitting and air compliance subject matter expertise and support to the Upstream Unconventional Business Units (BUs), which are located in multiple states across the US  
  • The position will require working closely and interfacing with peers in the Environmental & Regulatory team, air compliance staff in the BUs, operations, operations and division management, engineering, and Law

What you will do

 

  • Evaluate proposed changes for air permitting and air compliance requirements and needs
  • Execute air permitting actions for upstream and midstream assets, including greenfield sites and modifications to existing facilities
  • Prepare air emission inventory calculations and reports, and emission event calculation support and guidance for business units; Execute Promax model simulations
  • Assist divisions with facility design recommendations to minimize air emissions and meet State and Federal requirements
  • Prepare guidance and training on air permitting & compliance requirements for BU regulatory & operations staff
  • Perform and assist in environmental audits, compliance tracking & resolution
  • Act as liaison between the BU and state and federal agencies as required.  Participate in agency inspections, as needed.
  • Conduct internal environmental compliance assurance reviews, focused on air emissions and air regulations
  • Perform regulatory research with recommendations appropriate for both operations and management levels
  • Develop air compliance matrices and implementation guidance based on air permits and regulations
  • Support data management projects such as development of systems and workflows to streamline technical permitting work, emission inventories and air compliance management
  • Work closely with multiple functions in work activities including  Business Unit Environmental & Regulatory staff, Engineering and Operations; Consultants; Law; Public & Government Affairs; Management

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related applicable degree
  • Substantial working knowledge of Federal and State Air regulations is required
  • 5+ years Upstream oil & gas and/or midstream experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and can work as an individual contributor as well as in a team 
  • High level of attention to detail and follow-through
  • Able to build working relationships with midstream and production personnel to accomplish environmental goals and sustain compliance
  • Able to project manage multiple work activities at a time, using prioritization and organization skills
  • Able to work well with and interface with contacts across multiple levels of the organization, including presentations appropriate for management levels
  • Able to travel intermittently to business units located in the United States (5-10%)

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • In depth knowledge of oil and gas facilities engineering and design, including control devices such as flares and VRUs
  • Able to build complex facility models using PROMAX & HYSYS
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software; Visio
  • Well-versed with upstream oil & gas regulation requirements and reporting such as GHGRP Subpart W, NSPS OOOOa/b, Engine Rules (ZZZZ, JJJJ) 
  • Title V permitting experience preferred
