Short Description / Purpose of Job

To ensure continuous plant availability through effective maintenance of electrical equipment by performing all artisan functions related to all the Chlorine, Derivatives, Steam Station 3 and Utilities plant substations and building electrical equipment maintenance, operations support and fault finding.

 

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

  • Experience in a Petro-chemical environment
  • Switching experience on LV and MV equipment
  • Experience on VSD drives
  • Experience on transformers
  • Experience in UPS systems
  • Hazardous location experience
  • Safety and good housekeeping
  • Maintenance of all electrical and related equipment
  • Installation, testing and commissioning of new or repaired electrical installations in accordance with Sasol specifications
  • An ability to read and interpret electrical single line drawings, motor control schematics, logic diagrams, data sheets and associated technical documents
  • Strong electrical power system and electronics skills
  • An ability to conduct high level fault finding, repair and inspections on LV and MV switchgear, electrical control systems, transformers, BCU & UPS systems, VSDs, cables, earth systems, electrical protection relays, heaters, motors, cranes, lifts and EX rated classified equipment
  • Full compliance to Sasol task risk assessments, work instructions and working procedures
  • A practical understanding of COCs, their legal implications and when these certificates are required

 

Formal Education

N3 Electrical or equivalent/ Grade 12 with Math’s, Science & English

Red Seal (Strong wish)

Valid Code B license

Trade test certificate – Electrical (NQF 4)

 

Experience:

3 to 5 years relevant experience with Petro Chemical Industry
