What you’ll do:
Based in Port Moresby, the Asset Scheduler is a key role responsible for managing the scheduling of all maintenance, reliability, projects, and operations activities. You’ll focus on optimising resources, minimising downtime, and maintaining a strong safety focus.
You’ll lead the 14-, 28-, and 90-day planning cycles, working closely with schedulers, planners, and operations teams to tackle conflicts and deliver the best outcome for the asset.
Every maintenance task flows through you, making you the critical hub that keeps production assets running smoothly.
You’ll also drive improvements, finding smarter ways to schedule and boost overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, create, and maintain the 14-, 28- and 90-day schedules for the asset, integrating input from projects, operations, maintenance, and other teams.
- Develop and manage a detailed 2-week work calendar by operational area, scheduling daily tasks to maximise resource use and reduce conflicts.
- Optimise schedules against available resources, escalate conflicts, and deliver fully resourced fortnightly plans.
- Minimise production impacts and improve safety by reducing scheduling clashes and identifying work consolidation opportunities.
- Coordinate with materials team to ensure availability of required materials on site.
- Lead scheduling meetings, manage stakeholders, track actions, and drive the scheduling process in line with business timelines.
- Support safety compliance through early scheduling, clear communication, and monitoring of compliance dates.
- Coordinate workload levelling with SSO and campaign schedulers to balance asset work permits.
- Analyse scheduling performance, report KPIs, and recommend improvements.
- Support integrated planners to maintain medium-term schedules and ensure scheduling meets processes, budgets, and priorities.
- Collaborate with planners to ensure work readiness and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Santos Management System (SMS) and Delegation of Authority (DOA).
What you’ll bring:
Essential Experience
- Advanced expertise in planning, scheduling processes, and logistics coordination.
- Proven operational and engineering experience within the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance activity scheduling.
- Strong analytical skills, able to leverage multiple data sources to deliver effective outcomes.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP, and other ERP or scheduling tools.
- Process-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Desired Experience
- Experience with Prometheus Scheduling Tool is highly regarded.
- Project management experience is advantageous.
Ideally, you’ll hold a Trade Certificate or Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation disciplines.
