Job Overview


The Retirement Analyst position will be part of the Benefits and AskHR organization for Marathon Oil Company.  The Retirement Analyst will be responsible for the successful administration and vendor oversight of the company’s 401k and Pension Benefit Plans.  Previous experience with 401k and Pension plans is required.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to draw valid conclusions and formulate recommendations.  The candidate will not only have effective written communication skills but also will possess strong verbal communication skills and will be relied upon to deal with internal customers, team members, and various vendors in a professional, confident, and thoughtful manner.  The ability to work with confidential information and maintain multiple projects simultaneously is essential.  Above all, the successful candidate will be self-starting, known for tackling challenges, a team player and will have demonstrated their commitment to team success. 


 


Job Responsibilities


  1. Manage the 401k and Pension plans including: reconciliation of the financial statements, proxy data requests, bank reconciliation, monthly Pension forecasting, annual plan audits, plan compliance, non-discrimination testing and process excess 401k and Pension payments.
  2. Interfaces with vendors to address routine and unique issues including but not limited to resolving day to day employee issues and escalations as needed; streamlining administration; and ensuring quality results.  Takes lead of, and ownership for, complex research initiatives and the analysis and resolution of complicated issues.
  3. May perform and/or review moderate and complex benefit calculations when requested, including calculating benefits & factors for retirements, terminations, and deaths. 
  4. Maintains operational documentation — including legal plan documents (ie – Plan Text and SPDs), administrative documents, and departmental procedural manuals.
  5. Responsible for SOX audit coordination.
  6. Assists other team members with complex vendor service requests, data corrections and error reports, including identifying missing or inconsistent data.
  7. Identifies and assists in the execution of process improvements.
  8. Depending on experience level of successful candidate, other job responsibilities will be assigned as appropriate.


Job Requirements


Degree: Bachelors required


Years Experience Required: 5 years’ work experience required; Experience working with 401k, pension/retirement plans; benefit systems, or benefits accounting a plus.


Computer Proficiencies: Strong Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel knowledge; SAP reporting


Travel Required: Less than 10%.
