The Tuas Lubricants Plant blends and packages marine oils, engine oil, Turbine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil and other lubricant products. The role includes the operational aspect of bulk additive unloading from Isotank, VII blender, In-Line Blender, Simultaneous Metering Blender, Automated Batch Blender and the various Baseoil, additives and finished product tank farm. Demonstrating the HSSE, Quality and Continuous Improvement mindset is a critical aspect of this role and will constitute much of the focus for the successful candidate

The Blending Operator reports to the Blending Supervisor and involve in the Lubricants and Turbine Blending Operation, Bulk and Drum raw material unloading, and VII Blending. The blending operation provides the finished products to the packaging operation, Bulk Truck loading and Bulk Barges at Singapore Lubes Park (SLP). Activities are coordinated through the Planning function as well as SLP Coordinator.

What’s the role

A blending operator’s primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Actively participate in the various plant HSSE programme  e.g Structure Safety Walk team (SSWT), raise Fountain Incident Management (FIM) & Potential Incidents / Near Miss (PINM), Safety day, Hazard Effective Management Process (HEMP) review, Toolbox meeting
  • Actively participate in the plant Quality and CI programme e.g Quality workplace Hazard Management (QWHM), initiative that drive process improvement, Quality Go See, raise quality PINM
  • Operate the Blending processes and equipment according to Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Operate PCS (Lubcel) for blending operation
  • Work with Supervisor and maintenance team to carry out troubleshooting of field equipment problem and defects
  • Work with Supervisor and Quality team to troubleshoot non-RFT blend
  • Responsible for the e-PTW issued for maintenance work and proper handover to next shift for follow up
  • To account for the drum and IBC additive decanted to Blender and ensure no discrepancy between set point and actual decanted qty
  • Ensure required drum additive and the qty are standby inside drum oven as per the blending order and set the correct heating temperature following the additive heating set temperature
  • Involve in the month end bi-annual stock count activities
  • Carry out tank physical dipping as and when instructed by the Supervisor and during month end and bi-annual stock count
  • Ensure correct rework finished product decanted to Blend as per the Blending order assignment
  • Ensure manual introduction of additive into Blender and finished product tank is done correct and no mistake if manual intro into wrong tank or blender
  • Report any leak or equipment defects/issue to Supervisor promptly and follow by raise maintenance request/Notification through GSAP
  • Lead contactors to perform unloading of additives Isotank into additives tank according to Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Carry out finished good tank flushing activity as and when require
  • Carry out manual decanting activity and ensure marine flush stock always available for blending operation
  • Carry out and handle field work such as carrying of load (
  • Able to manage significant operational change
  • Involve and participate as trained Company Emergency Response Team(CERT) team fire fighter or first aider
  • Expected to cross train in other production area like Grease manufacturing, Filling Operation, etc
  • As part of leadership development, the successful candidate is expected to stand in as Blending Supervisor
