Work Experience:
• Minimum 7–10 years of progressive business development experience, with at least 5 in oil and gas engineering/construction.
• Proven record of securing multi-million-dollar contracts in Nigeria or international oil and gas projects.
• Experience with tendering, compliance, and partnership negotiations

1. Business Development & Growth
• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities within upstream, midstream, and downstream markets.
• Expand company footprint by targeting new geographies, clients, and technical service areas.
• Conduct competitor analysis and market intelligence to inform strategy.
2. Client Relationship Management
• Build and sustain strong relationships with key decision-makers in IOCs, NOCs, EPC contractors, and government agencies.
• Serve as primary point of contact for prospective and existing clients, ensuring responsiveness and client satisfaction.
• Facilitate customer engagement initiatives, site visits, and technical presentations.
3. Tendering, Proposals & Bids
• Lead preparation and submission of high-quality bids, prequalification documents, EOIs, and RFP responses.
• Coordinate with technical, legal, and finance teams to ensure bids are commercially competitive and compliant.
• Develop bid status reports, win-loss analysis, and lessons learned documentation.
4. Strategic Partnerships & Alliances
• Identify and engage with technical partners to bridge capability gaps.
• Negotiate joint venture, consortium, and subcontracting agreements with global and local firms.
• Represent the company at international conferences, exhibitions, and trade missions.
5. Compliance & Certifications
• Ensure business development activities align with regulatory and statutory requirements in Nigeria and international markets.
• Maintain company certifications (ISO, HSE, NCDMB registration, DPR/NUPRC licensing, etc.) to qualify for tendering.
• Monitor industry regulations, ensuring proactive compliance.
6. Reporting & Analytics
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly business development performance reports.
• Track KPIs, pipeline value, and conversion ratios.
• Provide insights to the Business Development Manager for strategic decision-making.
7. Market Expansion & Diversification
• Conduct thorough market research to identify underserved regions, industries, and client segments across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
• Develop tailored market entry strategies, feasibility studies, and go-to-market plans for new territories.
• Champion product and service diversification initiatives, aligning offerings with evolving client demands and competitor movements.
• Leverage customer insights and feedback to design innovative solutions that strengthen the company’s value proposition.
8. Digital Transformation & Innovation
• Drive adoption of digital tools (CRM, data analytics, AI-powered platforms) to optimize pipeline management, reporting, and client engagement.
• Implement digital marketing and client outreach strategies to boost visibility in global oil & gas markets.
• Partner with IT and technical teams to deploy digital solutions that enhance proposal development, document management, and bid accuracy.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies in oilfield services, EPC, and business development practices to maintain competitive advantage.
9. Customer Engagement & Retention
• Design structured customer engagement initiatives, including loyalty programs, satisfaction surveys, and after-project review sessions.
• Organize client-focused forums, workshops, and technical engagement events to reinforce trust and long-term partnerships.
• Build a proactive client feedback loop to continuously refine services and preempt dissatisfaction.
• Monitor client retention metrics and develop strategies to increase repeat business and referrals.
10. Risk Management & Mitigation
• Identify, assess, and manage business development risks such as overextension, regulatory non-compliance, and partnership conflicts.
• Establish risk registers, mitigation plans, and escalation procedures specific to BD activities.
• Work with legal, compliance, and finance teams to review partnership agreements, ensuring clarity and alignment of interests.
• Develop scenario-based contingency plans to address technological adoption challenges,regulatory shifts, or sudden market downturns.
11. Reputation & Brand Positioning
• Safeguard the company’s reputation by ensuring ethical business practices, transparent communications, and timely grievance resolution.
• Lead brand-building initiatives, positioning the company as a trusted partner in Nigeria’s and international oil & gas markets.
• Represent the company in industry media, thought-leadership platforms, and high-profile events to strengthen visibility.
• Monitor public and client perception, proactively managing potential reputation risks.
Work Cycle
• The work location is a land based.
• Work is Port Harcourt based.
• The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (8am to 5pm) routine over a 21-day period.
• Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need may arises. Standard operational hours of 40-45 hours weekly, with extended hours during bid/tender deadlines. Resumption time is 8am.
• Frequent travel within Nigeria and internationally for client meetings, conferences, and project negotiations.
• Office-based with occasional site visits requiring PPE and HSE compliance.
