Job Description:
Our client, a leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) group in Zambia, renowned for its innovative and high-quality consumer products, is seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead its marketing strategy and drive brand growth across diverse markets. This role is pivotal in shaping the company’s market presence, enhancing brand equity, and delivering measurable business impact.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to enhance brand equity, increase market share, and drive revenue growth in the FMCG sector.
- Oversee brand positioning, ensuring consistent messaging and differentiation across all consumer touchpoints in local and regional markets.
- Lead consumer research initiatives to identify market trends, customer preferences, and competitive opportunities, translating insights into actionable strategies.
- Design and manage high-impact marketing campaigns across digital, traditional, and emerging channels, ensuring measurable ROI and alignment with business goals.
- Lead and mentor a diverse marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and excellence while promoting professional development.
- Prepare and manage marketing budgets, optimizing resource allocation and implementing cost-control measures while prioritizing quality and impact.
- Partner with C-suite executives, sales, product development, and external stakeholders to align marketing strategies with corporate objectives and market demands.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives, leveraging data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance marketing effectiveness.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate campaign success, brand health, and market penetration, reporting outcomes to senior leadership.
Qualification and Skill:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is highly advantageous.
- Experience: 10–15 years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within the FMCG or consumer goods industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven expertise in developing and executing marketing strategies in the FMCG sector, with a strong understanding of consumer behaviour and market dynamics.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau), CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), and project management software (e.g., Asana, Monday.com).
