Job Description:
Our client is in need of a strategic and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology and digital strategy for their mining operations and projects in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT systems, cybersecurity, and SOX compliance, along with a background in the mining sector.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the company’s technology vision and align it with business goals.
- Overseeing IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and operational technology.
- Developing and managing cybersecurity programs to protect company systems and data.
- Ensuring all IT-related processes meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
- Supporting automation, digital innovation, and data analytics across mining operations.
- Building and leading a skilled technical team across multiple sites.
- Working with executive leadership on risk management, technology investment, and strategic planning.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
- Master’s degree advantageous.
- 10+ years’ experience in leadership roles within IT in the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of SOX IT controls, audits, compliance frameworks, and cybersecurity standards.
- CISSP, CISM, or similar cybersecurity certification.
- Familiar with ERP systems, industrial control systems (ICS), and cloud platforms.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Willing to travel to remote mining sites in Africa as needed.
- This position is only open to South African residents currently based in / around Gauteng.
