Santos

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)

We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

GLNG Operations Pty Ltd

The GLNG joint venture, comprising Santos, Petronas, TotalEnergies and KOGAS is an unincorporated joint venture established for the purpose of operating the GLNG Plant on Curtis Island and the marketing of LNG from the GLNG Plant. GLNG OPL is the downstream operator of the GLNG Project (i.e. the GLNG Plant and the transmission pipelines).

Santos is the upstream operator of the GLNG Project and operates acreage in Fairview, Roma, Arcadia and Scotia (including the wells, the gathering systems and the gas processing hubs), to feed gas into the GLNG Plant for liquefaction.

What you’ll do:

GLNG Commercial Operations is seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Operations Adviser to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in optimising the GLNG supply chain, leveraging your expertise to influence maintenance planning, enhance operational configurations, and execute gas trading strategies that maximise portfolio value and ensure efficient utilisation of infrastructure.

You will take ownership of the full GLNG gas portfolio, overseeing the daily scheduling of production and third-party gas contracts to consistently meet contractual obligations. This position offers significant exposure to business-critical decision-making, with a clear pathway to contributing to and shaping broader strategic initiatives as your impact within the organisation grows.

Please note, this is a rostered role to ensure 24/7 coverage from our Brisbane CBD office. On-call responsibilities apply.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Nominate, schedule and optimise GLNG’s infrastructure, gas assets, and external third-party contracts for the sale, purchase, and transport of gas to meet GLNG’s contractual commitments
  • Proactively identify, plan and execute supply chain optimisation and mitigation plans
  • Execute strategic short term trading opportunities in the domestic gas market, leveraging the flexibility in GLNG’s portfolio to generate value
  • Ensure key compliance activities are completed to ensure GLNG commercial operations comply with regulatory requirements
  • Daily liaising with LNG Marketing and GLNG’s Upstream and Downstream Control Rooms to optimise the supply chain, resolve real-time operational issues and plan transient operational set-ups.
  • Influence integration of maintenance activities to mitigate operational risks and minimise losses
  • Daily monitoring and analysis of the Australian east coast domestic gas market to understand potential opportunities and impacts on the GLNG supply chain.
  • Foster and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
  • 24/7 rostered coverage amongst the team from Brisbane CBD (day-time office based and after hours with on-call responsibilities)

What you’ll bring:

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable professional with demonstrated experience in a comparable role, underpinned by strong gas market knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas value chain. You thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment and bring a proven ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

You possess strong analytical capability and attention to detail, with a natural aptitude for problem solving, optimisation, and risk management. Your interpersonal strengths enable you to negotiate effectively and build trusted, enduring relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and counterparties.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Engineering, Law, Economics, or a related discipline, complemented by prior experience in gas supply chain operations, gas production, or a commercial role within the energy sector.

What you’ll get:

Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.
