Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Site Manager will lead and oversee the safe development and on-schedule, delivery of their process plant project. This role is ultimately responsible for ensuring the project remains complaint with all relevant HSE, HR and other legislative requirements, as well as engineering designs, standards, and codes of practice. This role mainly entails (but is not limited to) the initial preparation of the site and the construction of essential infrastructure, the process plant and mining set-up. The role requires a strategic leader who can manage projects and contractors from conception to completion, ensuring that all works are completed in compliance with all permits, licenses, documents, safety, environmental and other relevant Government ACTs, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and ensure project safety initiatives, ensuring both employee and contractor safety, and surpassing SHEC standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with statutory and company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Implement Project/Construction Management Plans, Procedures & Systems
  • Review and report on projects in-depth to schedule deliverables, estimate costs, quality standards and organise resources effectively.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring effective collaboration and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships, as well as ensuring strong communication links with key internal and external stakeholders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Engineering and/or trade qualification and experience in site and construction management is essential.
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • At least 10 years’ working experience in construction management, with a significant portion of this experience preferably within the mining industry or in similar large-scale process plant projects
  • Registration with a recognised Engineering professional body.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, safety standards (especially SHEC standards), and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with the mining industry in Malawi / Africa is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant local government ACTs & Regulations associated with Mining and construction activities.
  • Ability to investigate and assess project schedule.
  • Multidisciplinary construction experience (civils, structural, mechanical, electrical)
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage a diverse team effectively.
