Our client, a major energy company, is looking for a Cost Analyst/ Project Controls Specialist to work on a 1-year contract in Lima, Ohio. The role is responsible for the proper setup, maintenance, and reporting of project cost information; tracking performance against approved budgets, future commitments, and actual costs; and support requisitions, WBS & CBS planning, and financial closeout. The position will require analytical ability/skills to identify deviations or issues, forecast future spending, and report results to key stakeholders.

Main requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in project controls/project cost management
  • Experience with engineering projects and/or construction, preferably in an owner’s representative capacity, in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably refining or chemical projects
  • B.S. Degree in Business/Finance/Engineering/Construction Management (or similar), or applicable experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with engineering projects and/or construction, preferably in an owner’s representative capacity, in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably refining or chemical projects
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), especially MS Excel
  • Project change management – change logs, forms, and supporting documents
  • Working knowledge of Industrial/Refining/Chemical construction process & contract delivery
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent planning, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Patient when handling issues and/or problem-resolution situations
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, along with the understanding and ability to work with confidential information
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understands workflow and how to calculate progress / earned value
  • Value of Work Done calculations and VOWD status reporting
  • Financial accruals management
  • Understands Primavera and Microsoft Project schedules definitions and basic schedule philosophies/fundamentals
  • Sound understanding of the PMBOK approach to Project Management
  • Experience working on the owner’s side, while working with EPC contractors
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or other similar cost management software used in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Certified Cost Engineer (CCE)/Certified Cost Controller (CCC) from AACEI – Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International
