Takes the lead on complex legal projects. Coordinates and/or resolves lawsuits filed against or on behalf of the company. Provides sound legal advice and counsel to the officers of the company concerning legal rights, obligations and privileges. Provides an assessment of risks associated with alternative courses of action. Researches, drafts, reviews and/or approves major/complex contracts, leases, farmout agreements, asset purchase agreements, joint operating agreements, and other agreements common in the oil and gas industry. Collaborates closely and advises clients who work in various disciplines. Recognizes and/or resolves related disputes or claims. Determines the necessity for, engages and effectively manages outside legal counsel. Provides support and/or direction to outside counsel.
Must have a JD from an accredited and well-recognized school of law, and be licensed to practice law in Colorado. Ideal candidate will have graduated in the top 25% of their law school class and have worked in private practice with a Martindale Hubbell AV rated firm. 7+ years of legal experience, including prior oil and gas transactional experience in the Rockies Region. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have a comprehensive understanding of the law in the area of expertise and advanced proficiency in its interpretation and application. Must be able to handle heavy workload, multiple project responsibilities and continually changing priorities.
Salary Grade Min: $143,500
Salary Grade Max: $246,500
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
