Data Engineer – Altea Energy

Report to: Functional Line Manager (Subsurface Manager)

Status: Rotation – Hassi Messaoud

Job Purpose:

Data engineer will be responsible to build the subsurface database and workflow that maintain data. This includes, sub-surface data (drilling report, well log, maps, and etc.), field/well production data (production rate, pressure, well condition, etc.).The job requires a strong understanding of subsurface concepts, proficiency in relevant software tools, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities:

Data management:

• Build and maintain subsurface database (well data and report), ensure accuracy and accessibility of information
• Collaborate with engineers in subsurface team and operations team to ensure database availability and integrity
• Register and or load technical data into data base through related software/workflow, manage document filling system effectively
• Set-up and maintain data structure in the shared workspace
• Manage data back-up
• Advise and assist users in using/working on database system efficiently
• Set and monitor authorized access for each user in searching the information in the data base
• Familiar with database management and visualization software (e.g. MS Access, Power BI, or Spotfire)
• Familiarity with subsurface software applications (e.g., Petrel) for data analysis, visualization, and interpretation.

Document management:

• Understand the available data / report within subsurface team
• Set-up and maintain database of report
• Coordinate with data owners to acquire technical data store and update data into the data base correctly and systematically
• Retrieve, transfer and export technical data to users as per user’s requirement
• Follow up and update data into the data base i.e. construction and production data in the daily, weekly, monthly basis also update well information regularly

Technical assistance:

• Preparing technical documents, reports, and presentations related to subsurface activities
• Assisting in administrative tasks related to budgeting, procurement, and logistics for the Subsurface Department. Printing out log/map and supporting documents
• Preparing and gathering subsurface data and sending out to partner
• Translating documents (French-English and Arabic)
• Helping to prepare meeting documents minute of meeting and memorandum

Contract management:

• To track and follow up contract’s expenditure and contract value via SAP
• To support staffs for issuing Service Entry Sheet, Service Release Order and Service Order
• To assist staffs for field ticket and invoice accrual processes

 Professional Knowledge & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in data management or subsurface related fields
• At least 4 years relevant experience in data management, especially in oil and gas, exploration and production business
• Candidates with subsurface background is an advantage
• Good command of written and spoken English, French literacy is an advantage 
• Good team player & be flexible for working location (rotation in Hassi Messaoud)
• Good computer skills in standard software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
