Deputy Project Manager – Brownfield (Contractor))

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Project Manager – Brownfield to join our team working on an exciting Oil & Gas project in Warri, Nigeria.

 

You will play a key role in supporting the Brownfield Project Manager in day-to-day activities, and to ensure the successful delivery of the project on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The individual will also be required to lead sub-teams dedicated to specific tasks.

 

The candidate will have excellent multi-disciplinary skills with a strong methodical aptitude and ability to analyze, coordinate with a high level of integrity, possessing strong communication, planning, people management, troubleshooting and reporting skills. Aggressive in identifying and resolving inefficient processes.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Brownfield PM the incumbent shall:

 

·         Drive teams in the most efficient way to obtain the wanted results

·         create value and make recommendations to management with respect to viable and practical solutions.

·         create scopes of work and manage engineering and execution contractors

·         define contract strategies and manage their implementation.

·         ensure proper preparation for execution from Company (including budget and organization) as well as from the Contractors side.

·         Assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing the project management plan, including schedule, budget, and risk

management.

·         Manage and track project progress against the plan, identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues.

·         Oversee contractor activities, ensuring they comply with project specifications, health, safety, and environmental regulations.

·         Facilitate communication between the client, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

·         Prepare and manage project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and technical documents.

·         Participate in project meetings and presentations.

·         Contribute to the development and implementation of quality control procedures.

·         Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to the budget.

·         Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency.

·         Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams

·         Manage interface with JV partners in an autonomous fashion

·         Apply project management tools and techniques

·         Be conducive to application to proper planning, cost estimating and cost control

·         Ensure good communication at all times with other departments in the company and that all interfaces are being managed effectively

·         Strong team member, able to motivate coworkers to achieve optimal output while maintaining high safety methods and practices.

·         Ensure adherence to Company processes and procedures where applicable

·         Assisting in the identification of potential hazards and either resolve or report it to the appropriate HSE Manager

Mandatory Experience

·         Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Oil and Gas business, specifically in Engineering and Projects

·         Strong IT skills, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and use of modified applications

·         Recent experience in Nigerian onshore oilfield operations

·         Must have NYSC completion certificate and be eligible to work in Nigeria.

 

Preferred Experience

·         Experience in IOC or NOC in similar disciplines or

·         Proven experience as a Deputy Project Manager or similar role.

·         Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI framework).

·         Excellent knowledge of oil & gas facilities and construction processes.

·         Experience working with contractors and managing their performance.

·         Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

Mandatory Qualifications

·         B.Sc. in Engineering degree or equivalent

·         Fluent in written and oral English

·         Further qualifications and certifications will be an added advantage
