ConocoPhillips is committed to growing it’s LNG business. Having publicly stated an ambition of scaling the global LNG portfolio to 10 – 15 MTPA, the Commercial Business Unit is entering a period of unprecedented growth. As a member of the Commercial LNG Strategy group you will fill an important role on a small cross-functional team in an emerging business for ConocoPhillips.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, Port Arthur LNG, this role will be key to developing the broader Commercial LNG strategy and directly supporting senior management. This position involves considerable senior-level exposure and coordination with the entire Commercial Business Unit as well as Investment Appraisal, Corporate Finance, Corporate S&PM, and other key functions.

This position is based in Houston, Texas.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Lead and participate in the economic framing and evaluation of Business Development activities such as equity participation in LNG projects, offtake contracts, and sales agreements
  • Lead ad-hoc strategic / economic analysis and present recommendations to senior management
  • Lead the preparation of key internal and external presentations such as Board Strategy Session, Analyst and Investor Meeting and Annual Shareholder meeting
  • Conduct portfolio analysis / optimization using Timera or other economic models with a view on total Commercial BU and company strategic objectives
  • Perform competitor analysis and formulate a point of view of the business environment and translate into strategy to support decision-making
  • Provide leadership in the coordination and implementation of special projects originating from executive / senior leadership

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, Science, or related technical discipline or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience within upstream energy industry
  • Advance proficiency with MS O365 applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in full range of hydrocarbon activities
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in the energy industry
  • Intellectual curiosity and exceptional analytical skills
  • Collaborative individual with the ability to work independently
  • Actively seeks out diverse set of people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals
  • Demonstrated influencing results in multi-cultural environments, across commercial and technical functions, and in situations with multiple competing stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills (via presentations, writing, and orally) in a variety of settings across levels of management and the working level
  • Application of CDQ, risk analysis and economic evaluation with strong skills in analyzing multiple scenarios
  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
