This position reports to the Controller, Operations Accounting and will oversee a Division Support Team, ensuring accuracy and compliance in the financial operations of U.S. onshore Division(s). The position is located at Headquarters and is comparable to a Division Controller or Assistant Controller with the key responsibilities below:
  • Oversee a team of approximately 15-20 employees, including revenue accounting and operations accounting teams, with oversight of:
    • Revenue distribution, volumes, accruals, DOI, and purchaser A/R
    • Review of product sales, transportation, and processing contracts; lease agreements, joint operating agreements, and other operational agreements
    • Lease operating expenses, DD&A, and other operating costs
    • Capital, AFEs, WIP, ARO, partner billings, impairment analysis, and accruals
    • Accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and other conveyances
  • Work closely with division management teams in different local division offices to provide support on accounting, forecasting, and financial analysis for transactions and contract review/negotiations.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Financial Reporting team to ensure accuracy of division level financial data, forecasts, and analyses.
  • Manage monthly division financial statement preparation, analyzing variances from forecast, and reporting significant issues.
  • Prepare ad-hoc presentations to the Headquarters executive management team.
  • Oversee compliance with accounting policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Coordinate communications with internal and external auditors.

  • Bachelor’s in accounting degree, CPA preferred
  • 15+ years in the upstream oil and gas accounting sector preferred
  • 10+ years supervisory/managerial experience preferred 
  • Detail oriented; with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Self-motivated with strong management, analytical and coordination skills, including multi-location coordination skills
  • Strong presentation and communications skills
  • Advanced knowledge of COPAS procedures for joint operating agreements
  • Willingness to travel to division offices
  • Strong Excel skills required, Strong SQL skills preferred
 
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
