JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENT ENGINEER (12 Months)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the required technical standards, processes and procedures and operating effectively and in compliance with legislation, the Facility Safety Case and Client’s standards.
  • Ensure assigned Instrument and Electrical Engineering activities are focused to delivering safe production performance with maximum reliability.
  • Ensure costs are controlled and managed in order to achieve business goals by monitoring contracts performance within the group and supporting the building of the OPEX budgets (ABC methodology).
  • Provide technical leadership to technician groups as well as foster an effective and efficient team working environment to ensure successful completion of technical activities.
  • Provide discipline engineering input into multi-discipline Engineering projects.
  • Provide Instrument and Electrical engineering input into HAZOP and Hazard review processes.
  • Following HAZOP’s take on the required level of support for the next stage of functional safety.
  • Develop and implement minor plant modifications for off/onshore sites in accordance with MOC procedure.
  • Actively participate in the Instrument and Electrical Engineering activities to ensure that the production and maintenance systems are integrated and operated effectively in accordance with the Business Plan, and also operate safely and efficiently in accordance with maintenance MSG.
  • Capture any opportunities to new or improved technologies suitable for the area of application.
  • Foster effective teamwork in order to motivate staff and help establish a work environment / climate, work systems and practices that maximize opportunities for staff to perform well, achieve job satisfaction and contribute effectively to the business. This includes ensuring all recruitment, training and performance assessments are in place and being carried out effectively.
  • Develop, maintain and manage networks and relationships with key personnel including those from the Operations Team and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical input into monthly reliability and maintenance reporting benchmarking equipment and system performance.
  • Management of assigned contracts and feedback follow up in term of expenditures and works execution.
  • Participate in defining group priorities in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in the Development of the annual budget and forecast for OPEX and CAPEX projects.
  • System Custodian for designated systems.
  • HSE and Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Ensure full compliance with Client HSE Management standards and the HSE Management System.
  • Ensure full compliance with all HSE regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Promote a risk-based approach to operations, supporting technical specialists and HSE staff to manage risk.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Safety Environmental Critical elements are managed to maintain asset integrity.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment policies, procedures and standards.
  • To participate in Emergency Response activities, as required.
  • To fully comply with Client Code of Ethics.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline.
  • Familiar and previous experience with project management principles and fundamentals.
  • Available to undertake HUET and BOSIET Certification.
  • Understanding of Risk Assessment.
  • Awareness on Safety Case and Bowties approach on Major Accident Hazards.  
  • TUV Functional Safety certification, where required.
  • Extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry or other similar Heavy Industrial environment, preferably including a substantial period of direct engineering support to operational Offshore and Onshore facilities.
  • Strong technical Knowledge and proven design, construction, commissioning and operational experience in the following areas:
    • ATEX / DSEAR Electrical and Instrumentation Systems.
    • High & Low Voltage Generation Systems (Both Islanded and Embedded systems).
    • High & Low Voltage Distribution Systems.
    • High & Low Voltage Motor Control Centre’s
    • High Voltage (Static) Variable Speed Drives.
    • Switchgear, Synchronous Generators, Induction & Synchronous Motors, Transformers, Lighting, Cables and associated support systems.
    • Protection Application (Switchgear, Generators, Motors, Transformers, Cables.
    • Knowledge of : – DCS / PLC Process Control Systems, ESD, F&G Systems, Field Instrumentation & Metering systems.
  • Knowledge of Applicable Regulations.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety.
  • Technical confidence and independence to progress tasks with minimal supervisor.
