Project Engineering Manager – Perm & Contract 

Location: South East England & Homeworking 

Contract type: Perm or Contract 

Experience Required: Offshore wind & substations 

Time frame: Start date will be as soon as possible – roles have sign off and budget

Our company provides extensive consulting, engineering, procurement, project management and operations support services to customers in the international oil, gas and renewable energy industries. We are currently looking to more aggressively expand internationally and continue to expand our already extensive services in renewable energy.  

We have partnered with Airswift to support us in our hiring and are proud to expand our team to include the appointment of  engineering Proifessionals, to be based in a staff role in Lonmdon, or contract in London or Asia.  

Key skills: 

  • Experienced in engineering management of Renewables offshore projects 

  • Has minimum ten years relevant offshore wind experience  

  • Demonstrable track record of technical delivery on detailed design projects as Engineering Manager. A minimum of two projects. 

  • Excellent change control and management skills 

  • Excellent discipline management skills 

  • Excellent understanding of offshore wind farm design drivers, risks and legislation 

  • Good understanding of project cost and schedule controls  

  • Is a self starter but works well within a management team  

  • Articulate with excellent report writing skills.  

  • Must have a core technical discipline with experience of leading that discipline in detailed design projects for offshore wind farms. 

  • Ability to form project teams, plan project delivery and manage or author project bids 

  • Experience of lump sum projects a distinct advantage 

  • Experience or ability in growing a Project Engineering Management competency within the business for design projects is a distinct advantage 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a multidiscipline engineering team to deliver a Substation or Foundation detail design EPC project. Substations are the focus.  

  • Act as deputy for the project manager during his absence 

  • Co-ordinate engineering activities across disciplines to provide an integrated and soundly engineered solution meeting quality, cost and schedule requirements 

  • Close liaison with client on all technical matters 

  • Ensure technical quality of engineering  

  • Manage discipline lead engineers to execute the design 

  • Coordination of engineering activities between disciplines. 

  • Maintain information flow through the engineering disciplines. 

  • Early identification of project changes and tracking/actioning of such to close-out 

  • Coordinate engineering activity reports. 

  • Review multi-discipline study reports for technical content and presentation  

  • Preparation of technical correspondence to the client including technical queries. 

  • Preparation of technical back-up to variations 

  • Assistance in recruitment and selection of resources 

  • Establish standards, competencies and training for all Project Engineering Managers with respect to design projects.
