Job Description:

Our client, an international mining company with operations based in Africa is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering expertise and leadership to optimize productivity and cost-efficiency within legal and operational guidelines. They will oversee the implementation of sound engineering practices and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff to ensure safe, reliable, and effective operations.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and oversee proactive maintenance strategies and sound engineering practices.
• Ensure compliance with Lesotho Mining Legislation, Mine Health and Safety Act, and Labour Laws.
• Lead engineering projects using recognized project management methodologies.
• Drive business improvement and asset management initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
• Apply strategic thinking and systems approaches to solve complex technical challenges.
• Manage budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation for engineering operations.
• Promote and enforce safety, environmental, and quality standards across all engineering activities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams to meet performance and transformation goals.
• Ensure integration and alignment between mining and engineering systems.
• Utilize digital tools for planned maintenance, reporting, and project scheduling.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• B Eng / B Sc Eng (Mechanical or Electrical) Degree or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Post Graduate degree in Engineering/MBA advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of operational and management experience within the mining industry.
• Must have strong electrical and mechanical expertise.
• Government Certificate of Competency is essential.
• Experience with High Pressure Grinding Roller (HPGR) is advantageous.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License (Code B).
• Project and contract management experience associated with medium/large scale mine projects.
• Production experience in a mining environment is essential.
