We are currently seeking an experienced Tax Adviser into the UK Tax Department based in Leatherhead, Surrey. The department consists of 12 members and provides advisory and compliance services to all ExxonMobil affiliates in the UK, as well as to a number of upstream affiliates in the Europe, Africa and Caspian regions, covering a wide range of direct and indirect taxes.

What role would you play within our team.


Working within a Tax Law & Planning team of 5 people, you will support a portfolio of UK business lines as their first point of contact for tax advice


The key responsibilities are to:


  • Provide UK corporation tax advice
  • Review project proposals and contracts to ensure that tax implications are identified and understood 
  • Advise on asset acquisitions and divestments
  • Handle various HMRC interactions
  • Liaise with ExxonMobil tax professionals in the U.S. and elsewhere
  • Provide technical support to the tax compliance staff
  • Liaise with co-venturers’ tax advisers in relation to shared tax issues

Who are we looking for.


To be eligible for this role, you must:


  • Have completed a degree at bachelors or masters level 
  • Have completed relevant professional qualifications in accounting, law or tax
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of the UK tax regime
  • Have relevant experience in a tax law and planning advisory position
  • Possess work experience and / or knowledge of working with external parties, including HMRC.


Experience of oil and gas taxation is not required.
