Expression of Interest – Trades Professionals (Opportunities in Australia)

We will be seeking qualified Underground Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics seeking employment-based relocation or skilled migration opportunities to Australia.

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced heavy duty trades professionals who may be interested in potential future opportunities across Australia, particularly within underground mining operations and site-based roles.

This Expression of Interest is intended to create a talent pool for positions that may become available over the coming months and does not relate to a single, immediate vacancy.

The role of Underground Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic involves the diagnosis, servicing, repair, and maintenance of underground mobile mining equipment, including load–haul–dump machines (LHDs), underground trucks, drills, and ancillary equipment. The role requires strict adherence to safety, reliability, and compliance with Australian mining standards and site procedures.

This EOI is intended for skilled diesel trades professionals who meet Australian trade recognition and migration requirements and are interested in long-term employment opportunities within Australia’s underground mining sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on underground mobile mining equipment.
  • Service, repair, and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, torque converters, axles, and braking systems.
  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance to maximise equipment availability.
  • Work on underground-specific systems, including hydraulics, steering, and safety‑critical components.
  • Interpret technical manuals, service schedules, and OEM documentation.
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or component failure.
  • Ensure all work complies with mine safety systems, isolation procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Complete maintenance reports, job cards, and shift handover documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other trades to support maintenance execution.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Recognized Trade Qualification as a Diesel Motor Mechanic (ANZSCO 321212) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working on heavy duty mobile plant, preferably underground.
  • Strong diagnostic skills across diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Experience working on underground mining equipment such as LHDs, trucks, jumbos, or service vehicles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and OEM service information.
  • Strong understanding of mining safety, isolation, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ability to work independently or within a site-based maintenance team.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in underground mining environments.
