Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee and optimise the day-to-day operations of a mixed-use farm, focusing on crop production (wheat, maize, soya), irrigation management, farm equipment, and livestock care. The successful candidate will ensure the farm runs efficiently, remains productive, and operates sustainably.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily farm operations, including crops, irrigation, and livestock.
  • Plan and oversee planting, harvesting, and general farm activities.
  • Supervise and train farm staff to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain farm equipment and ensure all machinery is in good working condition.
  • Monitor crop and livestock health, taking action to resolve any issues quickly.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and financial records for the farm.
  • Order and manage supplies such as seed, fertilizer, feed, and equipment.
  • Monitor weather and plan farming activities accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Report on farm performance and suggest ways to improve efficiency and yield.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Minimum 5 years’ proven experience as a Farm Manager or in a similar agricultural leadership role.
  • Experience in cropping (wheat, maize, soya) and livestock management.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of budgeting and record-keeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other farm management tools.
  • Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field (preferred but not essential).
