Job Description:

Our client, a global drilling services company operating across the mining and infrastructure sectors, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee its West African operations. The position is based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and reports directly to the VP Africa, with functional oversight from the Group Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and reporting accuracy of the company’s regional entities.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage the regional finance and accounting team across multiple West African countries.
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information, month-end close processes, and financial accounts.
• Oversee compliance with tax, regulatory, and statutory reporting obligations, including tax submissions and audits.
• Analyse, interpret, and evaluate financial data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Assess project profitability and monitor financial performance against approved budgets.
• Provide budgeting, forecasting, CAPEX, and financial planning recommendations to senior management.
• Support the VP Africa with monthly reporting packages and financial analysis.
• Implement and maintain effective internal control procedures in accordance with company policies and delegation of authority frameworks.
• Manage quarterly IFRS reporting submissions for Group consolidation purposes.
• Maintain relationships with banks, external auditors, and other key external stakeholders.
• Monitor and control inventory management processes across the region.
• Oversee regional cash flow forecasting and provide weekly treasury reporting to Head Office.

Qualification and Skill:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in Audit or a similar Financial Controller position within a project-based organisation.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
• Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
• Sound understanding of tax legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• High level of integrity and ability to make independent financial decisions.
• Fluency in French is mandatory.
