About the role

Based at our Brisbane office and reporting to the Senior Finance Manager for Eastern Australia, an excellent opportunity is now available for a Financial Controller to lead our Production Operations team. With a strong emphasis on business partnering, the team provide expert financial advice, governance and financial support across all of our Upstream production-related activities within Santos’ Eastern Australia region (comprising our GLNG, Cooper Basin and NSW operations).

Key accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing financial business partnering and decision-making support to Vice Presidents (Operations, Upstream QLD/NSW, Upstream Cooper), Production Managers and other departmental managers (including Field Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Commercial and Finance).
  • Co-ordinating and effectively delivering financial management reporting (including performance against targets and trends) to key stakeholders with genuine insight.
  • Co-ordinating and understanding Production Operations expenditure budget, quarterly forecasts (latest estimates) and actual results reporting, ensuring information and assumptions are appropriately supported by data.
  • Providing analysis and commentary over Production Operations expenditure including driver analysis, event driven variance, the impact of scope, cost or timing differences, for internal audience and external joint venture partners.
  • Identify opportunities and co-ordinate projects to deliver process and system improvements.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performing team, with an emphasis on staff engagement and development.

About you

  • Qualified CA, CPA or equivalent
  • Significant experience in a variety of financial roles with senior experience in area of discipline.
  • Proven experience in business partnering and working with management.
  • Strong SAP experience preferred.
  • Resource industry and joint venture accounting experience preferred.
