Job Role Summary

 

  • The Fixed Equipment Engineer provides mechanical engineering support (primarily for piping and vessels) to their respective Business Team (BT) with the objectives of improving safety, environmental, reliability, and profitability
  • Location of job is the GCGV plant in Gregory Texas

Job Role Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for completion of mechanical integrity tasks as needed to maintain compliance
  • Responsible for providing troubleshooting & engineering support to maintenance and operations
  • Work with Business Teams to identify short/mid/long term vulnerabilities and establish priority and plan of action for path forward
  • Responsible for documentation and drawing updates to incorporate equipment revisions and repairs
  • Responsible for engineering of reliability and mechanical integrity improvements within their areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining knowledge of industry codes, ExxonMobil standards, best practices and programs to apply to engineered solutions
  • Supports site behavioral based safety program (Loss Prevention System) for the technical function in their area
  • Support for maintenance turnaround plan, turnaround basis (interval, Turnaround Basis Memorandum, competitiveness, etc.), milestone compliance and work list for their area
  • Support turnaround execution with timely and accurate engineering of discovery work
  • Support plant with piping and fixed equipment design support for management of change and local projects
  • Collaborate with Technical, Inspection, and Maintenance organizations to support field execution and confirm facilities meet design requirements during PSSR

Job Requirements

 

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering (or related degree)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical engineering roles supporting refining, chemical, or similar industry plant operations with focus on fixed equipment maintenance and design
  • Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.3 Piping Code, and relevant API standards (API 510, 570, 582)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to deliver results
  • Ability to effectively interface across multiple disciplines, including third party contractors and vendors
  • Ability to perform visits to the field, including climbing stairs and ladders while wearing appropriate PPE
  • Job requires occasional after hours/weekend support and ability to be on-call when needed. Includes occasional business travel

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of materials and welding procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk Based Inspection
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical integrity processes
  • Experience with executing complex turnarounds and downtimes
  • Experience and understanding of reliability engineering
  • Experience with conducting incident investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
