Job Description:
Our client, a well-established logistics group operating across East and Central Africa, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its regional operations. This executive role is responsible for driving the company’s strategic direction, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring sustainable business growth across multiple service lines including clearing & forwarding, project logistics, warehousing, and transport.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team to implement strategic objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen the company’s market position within the region.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the company’s multi-country regional strategy.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence across all business units.
- Drive business development initiatives, expanding market share and strengthening the sales pipeline.
- Work closely with the Group CFO on financial reporting, budgeting, and performance management.
- Identify market risks and opportunities, advising the board on mitigation and growth strategies.
- Ensure compliance with QHSE standards and maintain relevant certifications.
- Build and strengthen strategic partnerships, consortiums, and commercial relationships.
- Lead and develop a high-performance management team and organisational culture.
- Represent the company at industry events, maintaining strong market presence and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee execution of strategic projects and corporate development initiatives.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related discipline (MBA or MSc advantageous).
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience within the logistics industry.
- At least 5 years’ experience at Executive Management level.
- Strong experience in clearing & forwarding, warehousing, transport, and logistics operations.
- Proven track record in strategy development and execution within a multi-country environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and performance management.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial skills.
- Strong network within the East and Central African logistics sector.
- Ability to operate in complex, multicultural environments.
