Job Description:

Our client, a major organisation in the mining sector, is seeking an experienced Head of Mining Supplies & Equipment to lead and expand the Supply & Procurement Division across East Africa. This role requires a commercially driven and technically proficient professional with extensive knowledge of electrical components, motors, mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, and mining consumables. The ideal candidate will be a strategic communicator capable of influencing senior stakeholders, driving commercial growth, and ensuring reliable sourcing and delivery of essential mining equipment. This leadership role requires strong experience managing procurement teams, developing supplier networks, and building scalable systems aligned to mining operations.

Responsibilities:

• Expand and position the Mining Supplies & Equipment division as a leading technical supply partner in the region.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with mining operators, contractors, and EPC firms.
• Identify and convert commercial opportunities across key supply categories, including electrical equipment, motors and automation components, conveyor systems, mechanical components, and mining consumables.
• Drive revenue growth through pricing strategy, margin optimisation, and negotiation of contracts and framework agreements.
• Lead and mentor a procurement team.
• Oversee sourcing and procurement of critical mining equipment while ensuring OEM compliance, supplier reliability, and effective vendor management.
• Support clients with technical sourcing requirements and ensure timely delivery of supplies to operational sites.
• Develop and implement procurement systems and strategies aligned to broader mining operational goals.

Qualification and Skill:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining supply, industrial equipment, or procurement.
• Strong technical background across electrical equipment, motors, mechanical components, and conveyor systems.
• Demonstrated experience in business development, marketing, and commercial negotiations.
• Proven leadership experience managing procurement teams.
• Experience working within mining operations or the mining services sector.
