Job Description:
Our client, a leading player in the mining and resources sector, is seeking an experienced Head of People & Culture to lead and execute the organisation’s human capital, culture, and transformation strategy across multiple operations. This is a senior management position responsible for driving strategic alignment between business priorities, workforce planning, and cultural transformation in a complex, high-performance environment.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing an integrated People & Culture framework, overseeing HR operations, talent management, learning and development, employee relations, and diversity initiatives, while fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the People & Culture strategy aligned with the organisation’s vision, business goals, and transformation agenda.
- Lead a team of HR specialists across Talent Acquisition, L&D, Employee Relations, and HR Operations.
- Drive organisational culture and transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with company values and sustainability commitments.
- Partner with executive management to shape workforce strategies that enhance engagement, retention, and performance.
- Oversee the implementation of HR frameworks and policies to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Provide strategic leadership on employee relations, change management, and labour relations in unionised environments.
- Guide succession planning, leadership development, and talent pipeline initiatives.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, embedding transformation and community objectives.
- Manage external stakeholder relationships, including clients, government bodies, and community partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organisational design, workforce planning, and cultural alignment.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
- Professional HR certification (SABPP / CIPD / SHRM) highly desirable.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management or executive role.
- Proven experience managing diverse, multi-functional HR teams.
- Strong ER/IR background and experience in mining, engineering, or heavy industry sectors.
- Demonstrated success in implementing transformation, workforce development, and engagement strategies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive cultural change and organisational effectiveness.
