Job Profile Summary:

The Supervisor Health and Safety is responsible for assisting in the planning, management, and direction of division wide health and safety compliance policies and programs. The role cultivates constructive partnerships with industry peers to stay abreast of industry advancements while ensuring strict adherence to pertinent standards and regulations. The role actively engages in thorough health and safety field audits and training initiatives and provides supervision and mentorship to field-based health and safety personnel, support teams, and external contractors, nurturing a culture rooted in safety and compliance.

 

Job Description:

  • Fosters positive relationships with regulatory agencies at all levels, advocating for the organization’s health and safety positions and staying informed about industry developments to positively influence business strategies.
  • Participates in comprehensive health and safety field reviews (audits) and training programs, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to field-based health and safety personnel, support teams, and external contractors, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Undertakes complex health and safety assignments autonomously, demonstrating expertise and problem-solving skills in diverse scenarios.
  • Develops and champions cost-effective health and safety recommendations aligned with organization objectives, balancing regulatory compliance with operational efficiency.
  • Sets and oversees tactical and strategic health and safety objectives, fostering team relationships, and actively improving inclusive behaviors for enhanced business outcomes.
  • Builds trust, establishes role clarity, and empowers health and safety teams to introduce innovations, ensuring alignment with functional priorities and effective resource allocation.
  • Defines timelines, holds health and safety teams accountable, and strategically allocates resources, demonstrating courage in risk-taking and navigating challenges for team success.
  • Guides and mentors the health and safety team, actively contributing to employee selection, performance management, compensation management, career development, and overseeing operational processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Protection, or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with 0-2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in Health and Safety Operations specializing in areas such as Risk Management, Compliance Management, Emergency Response, and Incident Investigation.

 

Certifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
