We are seeking a heterogeneous catalysis research scientist to join the Catalyst Center of Excellence (CCoE) at Aramco’s Research & Development Center (R&DC).  The CCoE is responsible for developing innovative catalysts to convert oil and natural gas into higher value fuels and chemicals, in addition to sustainability catalysts which enable CO2 utilization, low-carbon fuels production, and a hydrogen economy.
The candidate will conduct R&D research to develop novel heterogeneous catalysts in R&D setting for production of high value fuels, chemicals, and sustainability-addressing catalytic technologies.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will lead catalyst development projects and/or tasks including idea generation, general project/task planning, catalyst design and evaluation; catalyst experimentation/screening; data interpretation, reporting and presentations.  The candidate is expected to carry out the following core activities:

Planning, coordinating and leading a research project or task related to catalyst development and evaluation for refining, petrochemicals, or sustainability applications.
Setting-up and overseeing operations of laboratories, conducting catalyst testing experiments and relevant DOE while ensuring safe maintenance of equipment and high-quality data with effective mass balance closure.
Make decisions based on sound scientific/technical and business data through rigorous analysis and based on experience.
Effectively lead multiple concurrent projects/tasks through establishing workstreams/work processes.
Perform statistical data analysis on catalyst performance results and leverage existing visualization software to manage/maintain a catalyst performance results database for high-throughput testing
Supervise technicians to maintain the lab facilities and catalyst development tools.
Utilize state-of-the-art High Throughput Research (HTR) methodologies and others (such as combinatorial techniques) as appropriate to advance catalytic technologies and leading experimentation/operation and results reporting.
Utilize advanced and routine catalyst characterization tools/instruments to gain insights about structure-activity relationships and feed into superior catalyst design and optimization.
Support lab activities and develop safe protocols which enhance the safety culture.
Develop and maintain all appropriate/relevant laboratory records, analytical methods, author technical documents, protocols, and reports.
Contribute to a safe, efficient, and effective lab environment with high-degree of accountability.
Ensure timely resolution of technical/scientific challenges through collaboration with others
Organizing team for specific project and task and leading internal and cross-functional project reviews.
Contribute technically his/her expertise to other projects.
Contribute to R&DC’s catalyst development knowledge base. Present research results in internal seminars, technical reports or external publications. Generate patent applications to protect Aramco’s intellectual properties.

Minimum Requirements

A Master degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and a PhD degree is preferred. The candidate should have 10 years of minimum relevant work experience in related fields to this job position. The candidate should have worked with High Throughput Testing Equipment for catalysis applications.  Catalysis-specific certifications, Project Management Professional certification, Professional Engineer certification are preferred where available.
