Job Description:

Our client is seeking a security supervisor to join their mining operation in West Africa. The Security Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the security team at the mine, ensuring the protection of sites, assets, and personnel. Key duties include supervising security personnel, coordinating patrols along a 50km haul road, maintaining discipline and safety standards, responding to security incidents, conducting inspections, gathering intelligence, and overseeing guard force equipment and logistics. This role will report directly to the HOD Security.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the mechanics and running of the shift Security force.
• Ensure that all security personnel are properly briefed and supervised in their roles, to efficiently brief and deploy the guard force.
• Manage and supervise all patrolling of several locations involving patrols of over 50km’s along the Haul Road.
• Maintain standards as the supervisor of the guard force with toolbox talks as the safety representative.
• Maintaining a high level of discipline amongst the security department’s Guard-force.
• Responsible for the integrity of several sites and all assets within.
• Reacting and responding to a variety of security incidents on site, and on the Haul-road, day and night.
• Carry out inspections of all locations and security posts with all sites.
• Ensure that proper records are maintained at access control points.
• Gathering of intelligence, reports, and acting on information.
• Responsible for the accountability and audit of all guard force assets, boats and equipment including the stores (including procurement recommendations) and maintenance.
• Making appropriate reports and recommendations to management.
• Lead on security training and duties of the security department involving the development and maintenance of standards of the guard force.
• Maintaining the appraisals of the guard force.
• VIP escort when and where appropriate.
• Undertake any such reasonable task that may be allocated by senior personnel from time to time.
• Liaise with Export and shipping in order to facilitate a smooth operation.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Military or Security Background – Must be ex-British military with proven leadership experience in security operations. Commercial security experience in Africa is highly preferred.
• Strong Leadership & Crisis Management Skills – Ability to manage a large security team, enforce discipline, conduct investigations, and respond effectively to security incidents in high-risk environments.
• Technical & Logistical Competence – Experience in asset accountability, security equipment management, procurement recommendations, and maintaining detailed security reports and intelligence records.
