Role: HSSE SUPERVISION SERVICES (Emergency Responder 2)
Location: Port Harcourt, Rumuahia, Assa North, Bonny, Soku, Gbaran, Ogunu, Forcados and Lagos.
Academics:
– Advanced firefighting training and certification, OND or its equivalent in Fire Science or Fire Engineering.
– A professional fire qualification from the Institution of Fire Engineers and/or NEBOSH certificate in fire safety.Engineering/NABTEB NTC

Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ Fire Service experience in Oil & Gas industry. Must have good knowledge and experience in –
– Oil & Gas fixed and mobile fire equipment integrity assurance.
– Oil & Gas Firefighting, Fire Rescue and recovery operations.
– Fire safety inspection and fire risk assessment.
– Donning and use of Breathing Apparatus.
– Driving and operating fire trucks, pumps and ancillary equipment.
– Providing Fire Cover/Watch during Hot Work Activity within Zone 0 and Zone 1 Oil and Gas Facilities.
– Must have Renaissance Firefighter’s Fitness To Work (FtW) certification.
– Must have Integrity – (Honesty, Trustworthiness and of good Behavior).

Technology Platforms (Added advantage):
– Good IT skills (EXCEL and WORD as a minimum – ACCESS would be a bonus).
– Excellent communicator (both written and oral), self-directed and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance.
– Excellent reporting/writing skills.

– Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Wearer Certification

Technical/Leadership Skills
Purpose:
The role involves responding to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous material emergencies; operating and maintaining firefighting equipment; conducting fire safety inspections and risk assessments; supporting workplace safety during high-risk activities; and maintaining detailed records while ensuring a high level of fitness and emergency preparedness.

– Respond to fires, rescue operations, evacuations, and other emergencies at company and third-party facilities.
– Drive and operate fire trucks and firefighting equipment during emergency incidents.
– Provide Teir 1 medical emergency responses when required.
– Perform fire line maintenance on fire trucks, pumps, and firefighting equipment before and after use.
– Inspect and test firefighting equipment regularly, report faults, and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
– Conduct fire safety inspections of facilities.
– Install and maintain portable fire extinguishers and other fixed fire protection equipment.
– Carry out fire risk assessments for hot work activities and ensure work areas are safe before work begins.
– Maintain fire watch during and after hot work or other high-risk activities.
– Keep accurate records of daily activities, incidents, inspections, and unusual events.
– Participate in emergency drills and physical fitness training to remain operationally ready.
– Respond and control hydrocarbon spills, gas leaks, and other hazardous substances to protect people and assets.
– Perform specialized rescue operations, including rescues from heights, water, and confined spaces.
– Prepare and submit reports on emergency responses, inspections, and fire equipment maintenance activities.
– Support station level training and toolbox talk to maintain safe fire operational and routine activities.
– When and where required don breathing apparatus to carry out firefighting and rescue activities.
– Must have Renaissance Firefighter’s Fitness To Work (FtW) certification.

Principal Accountabilities:
– Emergency Response: Respond promptly to fire, rescue, medical, hazardous material, and other emergencies and carry out firefighting, rescue, evacuation, and salvage operations safely and effectively.
– Operation of Emergency Equipment: Drive, operate, and deploy fire trucks, pumps, and firefighting equipment and Ensure equipment is used correctly during emergency and non-emergency operations.
– Fire Prevention and Safety: Conduct fire safety inspections and identify potential hazards, Perform fire risk assessments, especially for hot work activities and Maintain fire watch during high-risk operations.
– Equipment Maintenance and Readiness: Inspect, test, clean, and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles, Report defects and ensure all emergency resources remain operational and ready for deployment.
– Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection: Identify, contain, and mitigate hydrocarbon spills, gas leaks, and other hazardous releases and Minimize risks to personnel, facilities, and the environment.
– Specialized Rescue Operations: Perform rescues from confined spaces, heights, and other difficult locations and Provide support during medical emergencies when required.
– Training and Competence: Participate in drills, exercises, and physical fitness programs and Maintain required certifications, skills, and operational readiness.
– Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of emergency responses, inspections, equipment checks, and daily activities and prepare and submit incident and operational reports.
– Compliance and Safety: Adhere to company procedures, emergency response plans, and safety regulations and promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices at all times.

Skills

Work Cycle
– The work location is mostly in Port Harcourt, Rumuahia, Assa North, Bonny, Soku, Gbaran, Ogunu, Forcados and Lagos facilities accessible via Land transport, Air transport or Marine transport, as business demands.
– Personnel shall manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers, as approved by Client.
