This role is essential in preparing the site for seasonal conditions, managing site-wide water balance reporting, and coordinating with cross-functional teams on geotechnical, environmental, and infrastructure resilience initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain surface water drainage systems (culverts, retention basins, ditches) to manage runoff and reduce erosion/flooding risks.
  • Lead mine-wide water balance reporting, including usage in dams, pits, and tailings storage facilities.
  • Develop and implement water control and reuse strategies aligned with regulatory and operational goals.
  • Conduct hydrological and geotechnical assessments for waste dumps, tailings, and pit slopes.
  • Provide hydrological models to forecast floods, droughts, and seasonal water availability.
  • Oversee the geotechnical instrumentation installation and data interpretation for infrastructure stability.
  • Coordinate with environmental, road maintenance, and operational teams to align water and road design with mine plans.
  • Evaluate seasonal rainfall impact on unsealed roads and drainage systems; develop erosion mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct training and technical mentoring for junior site engineers and technicians.
