JOB TITLE: INSTRUMENT/MEASUREMENT TECHNICIAN

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensuring all instrument systems including metering, telecoms, Emergency Shutdown, Fire & Gas detection/protection systems are   maintained for maximum reliability and availability.
  • Ensure all authorized work permits are in place before commencement of work and cleared on completion before reinstatement. 
  • Priorities workloads to provide maximum availability for all platform SCEs.
  • Instrument
  • Diagnoses and rectifies faults to ensure maximum equipment availability.
  • Maintains telecoms and satellite TV systems.
  • Maintains and carries out fiscal metering duties.
  • Carries out Active Monitoring System.
  • Implements the scheduled maintenance program incorporating all instrumentation electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic plant and         equipment.
  •  Maintains all instrumentation drawings in ‘as-built’ condition to reflect any modifications.
  •  Installs and commissions new equipment as directed.  Co-ordinates with other members of the maintenance team to plan daily and     long-term maintenance schedules to optimize production.
  • Contributes to the planned maintenance system meeting legal and vendor requirements, ensuring all work is accurately recorded.
  • Maintain comprehensive hand over logs.
  • Assist as required, other trades and disciplines within the limits of capabilities and experience. 
  • Measurement
  • Ensuring the compliance and continual operation of all fiscal, allocation and environmental measurement, sampling, and analysis   systems with legal and/or contractual implications
  • Perform daily checks of all offshore measurement systems and have the capability to analyze and act on active alarms and events.
  • Performing routine planned maintenance and corrective scopes as determined by the agreed schedule on Fiscal, Allocation &   environmental measurement, sampling, and analyzer systems.
  • Review maintenance and operations procedures and advise recommended updates to the Asset Measurement Engineer for   inclusion within the next revision.
  • Monitor and control the scheduling of metering system maintenance in conjunction with the asset scheduler.
  • Handling and preparation of any key meters, analytical equipment and secondary instrumentation for recertification or verification at   certified calibration facilities.
  • Provide measurement, sampling, and analytical technical support to the operations team.
  • Assist Asset Measurement Engineer with investigating and implementing any changes required for closure of audit actions.
  • Report and provide data to the Asset Measurement Engineer for any mismeasurements, which have occurred and require reported   data to be corrected.
  • Maintaining measurement system maintenance and operational documentation to allow the operator to demonstrate to auditors and   third-party verifiers that the assets measurement systems are being operated and maintained to the required legal and contractual   standards.
  • Help in the reviewing of any project documentation for offshore commissioning for any new or upgraded measurement equipment.
  • Accompany any third-party vendor when providing support to work relating to measurement, sampling or analytical system.
  • Acting on behalf of the client and Petrofac when reporting and liaising with the assets Management and Supervision team located on   the asset.
  • Preparation of Work control certificates (WCC), Standalone risk assessments (SARA) and Isolation Control Certificates (ICC) in the   Integrated safe system of work (ISSOW)
  • Creation of defect notifications in the maintenance management system
  • Involvement with the planning, preparation and execution of shutdown measurement scopes as required by onshore support and the   asset.
  • FAT and SAT attendance on behalf of the client as required.
  • Ensure composition data is updated within flow transmitters and flow computers on completion of data review.
  • Compile end of trip reports with adequate technical information to ensure all completed and ongoing scopes are detailed for   reference.
  • Actively progress asset competency requirements to provide evidence of competency and progression.
  • Manage the metering work orders in the Maintenance Management System (SAP) system, ensuing timely closure of work orders to   ensure plan attainment.
  • Review all active and repetitive alarms associated with the metering systems and proactively clear and provide solutions for   operational parameters.
  • Management of platform gas chromatograph ensuring data is sent to vendor (where system permits) and calibration gas is   appropriate for the current gas composition.
  • Ensure sampling systems are configured according to the process conditions and pipeline samples are sent on time.
  • Ensure all master drawings are correct, errors to be ‘red lined’ and issued for correction and revision control.
  • Ensure the emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection/protection systems are maintained in a state readiness to respond to any   plant malfunction or incident offshore.
  •  Ensure areas that have been isolated from the fire and gas system for maintenance work are constantly monitored.  Ensure areas   are reinstated as soon as work is complete and work permits are cleared.
  •  Ensure all work carried out follows all statutory procedures.

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Educated to ONC Standard in Instrumentation/Control Systems & successfully completed a recognized apprentice scheme or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a similar role. 
  • Good knowledge of Automated Control, Fire and Gas, Telecoms, Fiscal metering & ESD systems.

  • Part of the Emergency Response Team as required.

  • Ability to identify, investigate, audit and control technical change (within limit of discipline knowledge)
  • Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, technical integrity, cost and schedule.
  • Clear, fluent, and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas. Requirement to raise any non-conformance to supervisor in timely fashion.
  • Ability to integrate into a multi-cultural team.
