We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Land Negotiator within our Rockies Land group based in Denver, CO.



Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Frequent interaction with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Forest Service, and private landowners; acquiring oil and gas leases as needed; analysis, negotiation and preparation of various agreements, including leases, farm outs, term assignments and operating agreements; drilling wells—including analyzing title opinions and securing needed curative; active input and participation in the decision making process of various projects; and coordinating the activity of field landmen when needed. 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and application of all petroleum land and negotiating principles, theories and concepts within the discipline
  • Has working knowledge of how land interacts with Exploration, Engineering, Geoscience, Accounting, Legal and Marketing; and will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of industry financial drivers.
  • Responsible for conducting all land work to include obtaining and evaluating land data (i.e., records, titles, abstracts, etc.) on availability of land and/or leases for acquisition, development, and/or divestiture.
  • Secures the examinations of titles, resolves defects, and settles damage claims.




  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and reach closure within established timeframes
  • Good verbal/written communication, organization and time management skills
  • Excellent business skills and strong ethics
  • Strong negotiation skills as well as experience recognizing, analyzing, and resolving difficult negotiating situations
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals
  • Knowledge of applicable county, state and federal regulatory rules and procedures
  • Strong ability to work effectively and coordinate activities with other groups in field operations offices, and with other Land Negotiators
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office Suite
  • Good problem-solving skills and established drive for results
  • A minimum of 4 years of in-house, broad-based working experience in traditional operations landman/land negotiator roles, or other relevant experience




  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business or a related field


Salary Information:






$87,000 – $149,000



$100,000 – $170,000



*Salary grade is determined based on a candidate’s education, industry experience, work history, skill set, and any unique qualifications.
