Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to serve as the appointed Instrument Technical Authority, ensuring lifecycle integrity and managing technical risks. As part of their team, you will work closely with Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, and Operations teams to uphold the highest standards in the field.

Location:

Alkmaar office, with occasional visits to onshore facilities in Noord Holland and offshore locations in the Dutch North Sea.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Instrumentation and Controls Engineers, ensuring timely and compliant technical support, aligning with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the Contract Holder for discipline vendor support contracts, overseeing performance reviews and technically approving all materials and service orders.
  • Provide specialised Instrument technical support to Maintenance, Operations, and Project Teams for resolving integrity and operational issues.
  • Ensure technical compliance according to the company’s Management System, statutory instruments, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain the lifecycle technical integrity of offshore installations within the Instrument discipline through the development and approval of maintenance and integrity strategies.
  • Manage Instrument performance standards, supporting the continuous improvement of Maintenance & Integrity reporting functions.
  • Evaluate and endorse temporary or permanent modifications, ensuring they meet appropriate standards and attending factory acceptance tests as required.
  • Conduct routine maintenance history reviews, perform safety and technical site audits, and lead root cause analyses of system failures.

Qualifications, Experiences, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
  • More than 10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
  • Current Offshore Medical and Survival Certificate.
  • Preferred: Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate engineering council registered body.
  • Significant experience in a senior role with a high level of knowledge of NL offshore/onshore operations.
  • Thorough understanding of Dutch offshore/onshore regulatory framework, major accident hazards, and performance standards.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering practices, codes, standards, and lifecycle asset integrity assurance programs.
  • Proven ability to work in multi-discipline project teams and prioritize HSE, Operations, and Project-related work.
  • Industry and governing bodies such as NOGEPA and SodM.

Preferred:

  • Previous Technical Authority experience.
  • Experience with managing technical teams.
  • Experience with managing vendor services contracts.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in an operating environment.
