Lease Operator






The Lease Operator optimizes and maintains oil and gas production and lease expenses. Prepares, maintains, and submits daily reports and records of daily gas and/or liquid volume, well pressure, volume of chemicals used, etc. Works under minimal supervision and is capable of handling highly complex problems. Operates and maintains production equipment including plungers and automation equipment. May assist in orienting and training less senior employees.


High School diploma or equivalent


Requires a minimum of 6 months of related industry experience in lease operations


• Perform operational checks of equipment and facilities
• Conduct production tests and perform minor repairs 
• Witness gauging and tests, ensuring accuracy of run tickets, organizing basic maintenance work, production reporting and input, troubleshooting process problems
• Represent the company in delivery/receipt of materials and equipment
• Maintain regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance in conjunction with and through close coordination with the Operations Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Environmental Health and Safety Department
• Maintain positive relationship with Local, state/province, Provincial and Federal representatives and Land owners
• Secure and maintain all Company equipment, including but not limited to computers, vehicles, and analysis or test equipment
• Possess the right and obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or are suspected
• Train newly hired and/or less experienced lease operators
• Operate and maintain assigned wells in a safe and environmentally sound condition
• Maximize profitability of assigned wells
• Provide field wide contact with all personnel in the event of emergency or other significant occurrences
• Maintain batteries, wells and equipment to facilitate efficient production operations
• Prepare and submits material transfer forms and work order notifications
• Maintain facilities painting, general upkeep, vegetation control, road maintenance etc.
• Take appropriate measures when there is a spill (i.e. notify the necessary personnel)

• Oil and gas industry experience preferred
• Practice safe work habits at all times

• Basic computer skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work within a team environment
• Creative individual, capable of analyzing and solving mechanical problems
• Position requires operation of Company vehicles. Incumbent must meet requirements of Company Policy
• Must be able to safely and effectively wear Self Contained Breathing equipment and work in an H2S environment
• Capable of safely climbing stairs, ladders, fixed to various equipment during production operations   
• Must live within 55 miles of Weatherford Field Office in a NE radius   
• Must be able to work schedule that supports business needs including rotations and nights
