POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the onshore Maintenance Lead is to identify and implement best in class maintenance strategies to maximize equipment runtime and platform reliability.  The Maintenance Lead provides high-level maintenance strategy and best practices to the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) operating assets.  This individual is expected to demonstrate and support a strong Lean culture of continuous improvement to drive performance to new levels.

This position will be office based with periodic travel as necessary/requested.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preparation and implementation of the overall GOM Maintenance Policy
  • Ensure that the detailed preventive and predictive maintenance work programs are executed per best practices
  • Develop and manage General Maintenance Contracts and Specific Maintenance Contracts, coordinate with Supply Chain to prepare Contractor evaluation KPIs and perform/request technical audits
  • Ensures resourcing is in place for competency development program (competences, human resources, material) and coordinates with competency team in training plans (inclusive of facilitating training as required)
  • Ensure compliance to performance standards, barrier management, regulations, and optimization of maintenance regarding safety, environment, reputation, and production
  • Provide technical assistance to skilled trades personnel in troubleshooting systems (Mechanical, electrical, instruments, controls)
  • Work closely with the Operations and Maintenance groups to increase maintenance and reliability
  • Responsible for supporting routine maintenance and planning efforts, being familiar with and provide guidance on the repair and operation of pumps, reciprocating compressors, turbines, blowers, centrifuges, heat exchangers, piping, pressure valves, etc. 
  • Guide a team of craft specialists and support technicians with electrical, mechanical and process knowledge while ensuring they are complying with all safety protocols, company policies and work procedures
  • Coordinate and track equipment repairs, inspection and testing of all major repairs performed
  • Lead critical PM activities and work orders resolution
  • Coordinate with Production, Technical and other Maintenance groups to ensure accurate and efficient completion of maintenance activities
  • Participate in the maintenance plans developed at pre-project stage of the brownfield and developments projects
  • Evaluate and develop improvement strategies for existing systems to improve reliability
  • Support maintenance activities for proper, safe execution of shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages (STOs) to minimize cost and duration of shutdown activities
  • Prepare maintenance budget and associated actions: problems identification, offers solutions, plans, and supervises the execution, the costs and planning
  • Control the ongoing repair and preventative maintenance budgets in line with the fiscal plan
  • Implement cost reductions to offset negative or unplanned variance to the fiscal plan
  • Be involved in the optimization of the utilization and quality of equipment (usage rules, obsolescence, reliability assessment) and proposed solutions to cover current and planned needs
  • Follow the technological evolution of the maintenance discipline
  • Complying with all requirements in the Hess Operational Management System (HOMS) documents
  • Manage sparing program (wear parts, capital spare parts)
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure spare parts availability
  • Evaluate and develop improvement strategies for existing systems to improve reliability
  • Partner and work closely with reliability and discipline engineering functions to optimize maintenance plans and drive overall Reliability and Maintenance (RaM) strategies
  • Lead and participate in meetings as designated by the agreed terms of reference (TORs)

  • Knowledge and experience in Lean principles, behaviors, and tools
  • Good working knowledge of SAP, SempCheck, Primavera, Permit to Work, and MOC systems
  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

 

Experience:

  • 15+ years in a maintenance role within Production Operations preferred.  
  • 5+ years in a team lead or supervisory position desirable
  • Experience working offshore, deepwater desirable
  • Experience with maintenance of rotating equipment, including turbines, generators, and centrifugal pumps
  • Experience in RCA / FMEA

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering preferred
  • Willing and able to travel to offshore locations (platforms) for onsite support, when and as needed
