Job Description:
Our client, with mining operations in West Africa, is seeking a Maintenance Planning Supervisor with strong experience in short and mid-term maintenance planning for processing plant within the mining sector, to oversee planning activities on site in West Africa.
This role ensures that work orders, schedules, and resource allocations are prepared accurately, aligned with operational priorities, and executed efficiently, supporting longer-term planning, reporting, and budgeting, while promoting consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement in planning practices to meet organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate work orders and develop short and mid-term maintenance plans aligned to production and resource capacity.
- Ensure resource readiness and maintain CMMS data integrity (asset hierarchy, BOMs, task lists, backlog).
- Facilitate planning meetings to validate priorities and allocate resources.
- Coordinate with support services to ensure safe, conflict-free execution.
- Ensure accurate work order scoping and spares planning; monitor PM compliance and escalate gaps.
- Ensure maintenance strategy updates are reflected in work orders.
- Provide feedback on PM programs, BOMs, and task lists to improve quality and effectiveness.
- Track schedule compliance, backlog, and work order closure; report on resource utilization and constraints.
- Support budgeting and ensure delivery against planning KPIs.
- Lead and coach the planning team, driving disciplined work management and scheduling practices.
- Build team capability and support succession planning while promoting safety and accountability.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar relevant field).
- 10 years’ experience in maintenance planning for fixed / processing plant within the mining sector, with 5 years at Supervisory level.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS/ERP systems, maintenance work management processes, and tools such as Power BI and MS Office.
- Solid understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability practices (including preventive maintenance and CBM).
- Proven ability to develop structured schedules and improve planning discipline.
- Experience working in multicultural or remote operational environments is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching capability.
