What you’ll do:

Based in Brisbane, the Maintenance Specialist IE&C will provide Instrument, Electrical, and Controls discipline support to drive rapid return-to-plan outcomes, offering technical guidance while ensuring all work complies with Santos design standards, EHS requirements, and quality expectations. 

You will lead return-to-plan activities and maintenance improvement initiatives and provide IE&C support for break-in work to ensure clear scope definition, equipment availability, and reliable execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for complex issues or scenarios with multiple options or outcomes.
  • Deliver frontline technical response to IE&C engineering queries.
  • Offer specialist technical support across all surface facilities equipment, with primary focus on instrumentation, electrical, and controls.
  • Manage return-to-plan (RTP) events, engaging internal teams, external specialists, and contractors as required.
  • Steward Risk-Based Work Selection, ensuring correct prioritisation of corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Provide input to engineering on the effectiveness and suitability of RMP/IMP based on maintenance programs and corrective work performed.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and plan break-in work to meet priority deadlines.
  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and value creation strategies where relevant.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational Excellence standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain adherence to EHS standards and the Company’s environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Protect the planned maintenance program to ensure adherence to area schedules.
  • Safeguard production plan delivery by maintaining reliability, availability, and meeting nominations.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, project scoping, and operations support.
  • Participate in detailed design reviews, IFATs, CHAZOPS, and workshops for new development projects.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience configuring and fault finding PLC’s, VSD’s and SCADA systems  
  • Knowledge of High voltage control and protection systems
  • Demonstrated experience in the hydrocarbon production, refining, or petrochemical industry.
  • Working knowledge of process control systems, power generation and reticulation, and engine, turbine, and compression packages.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Experience in Project Management, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, Reliability Engineering, or Electrical/Controls Engineering.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Trade certificate qualifications in Instrumentation and Electrical.
