Job Description:

 

Our client, a leading engineering and infrastructure group in Angola, is seeking an experienced Maritime-Port Engineering Director to lead the technical, operational, and strategic direction of its Maritime-Port Engineering Department.

Reporting to the Group CEO, the successful candidate will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of maritime, port, and coastal engineering projects while driving business development, stakeholder engagement, and the leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic, technical, and operational development of the Maritime-Port Engineering Department.
  • Manage and oversee maritime, port, and coastal engineering studies, projects, and consultancy services.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Drive business development and identify opportunities across the maritime, port, offshore, and coastal sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, authorities, investors, and strategic partners.
  • Oversee technical and commercial tender submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, technical standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight for maritime hydraulics, dredging, coastal protection, port infrastructure, and terminal projects.
  • Promote innovation, international best practices, and support executive strategic planning.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Coastal, Maritime Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Fluent Portuguese and English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior maritime and port engineering roles.
  • Proven leadership of maritime and port infrastructure projects and multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in the design, construction, and management of maritime, port, and coastal infrastructure.
  • Sound knowledge of maritime-port regulations and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of the Angolan market advantageous.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

 

Contractual Information:

  • 1 year renewable contract, with the potential for a permanent contract following 2 years of service.
  • Residential basis with 3 return trips per annum.
