JOB TITLE:                MPD Operator

REPORTING TO:      Technical Section Leader

LOCATION:          Offshore

ROLE
SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all managed pressure
drilling equipment and maintenance

QHSE

Responsible for/ensure:
Compliance with the Seadrill Code of Conduct
Compliance with applicable internal and external governing requirements
Compliance with Seadrill training, certification and competence requirements
Compliance with applicable laws
That all emergency equipment is in good condition and configured as required
Non-compliances are promptly acted on and reported to the direct supervisor
Compliance with the standard for tidiness and cleanness
Assume the safety role as per station bill and emergency preparedness plan
MPD equipment certification is valid and available onboard
Contribute with STAR card reporting

Participate
in:
Meeting activities in a proactive and constructive manner
Training and competence assessments as assigned and/or required

JOB
SPECIFIC

Responsible for/ensure:
Directing all activities related to MPD well operations in accordance to the program.
Assist the TSL during the emergency well operations paralysation or well control during MPD operations.
That any operations do not exceed the limitations of the MPD equipment
Equipment and operational status pertaining to MPD is reported to the DSL, Client and OIM in a forthright manner
Managing MPD equipment in preparation for drilling operations
All relevant governing documents are adhered to
Visible leadership by spending time in the field and monitoring MPD operations
Required MPD reports are maintained, updated and distributed as per requirements
Thorough handovers are provided at each daily change of drilling crew
Other duties are performed as and when required and/or directed by his / her direct supervisor
Personal time management is coordinated effectively during MPD operations

Assist with:
Budgetary control of the MPD equipment
Well kill operations in an emergency or well control situation

EQUIPMENT
& SYSTEMS

Responsible for/ensure:
Operational preparedness of all safety and emergency equipment
First line maintenance is performed and recorded
That the MPD equipment is maintained and maintenance is recorded
Maintaining a sufficient stock of MPD equipment spare parts and materials onboard
Equipment is prepared for future drilling operations

QUALIFICATIONS

As per Seadrill training and competence directives

REGIONAL REQUIREMENTS

OTHER
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Verify for compliance, records of inspections and certification of MPD equipment
Assist the TSL in organizing third party personnel responsible for various MPD well program, equipment maintenance aspects
Maintain sufficient stock of parts and materials for MPD operations
Participate in the daily operations meeting
Responsible for ensuring that MPD rig specific procedures, are understood, utilized and updated accordingly
Perform or lead incident investigation as required
Actively participate in safety, departmental, pre-tour, client meetings, etc.
Communicate with the Client under jurisdiction of the DSL
Not applicable
Minimum two years as an Assistant Driller or similar offshore position
IWCF Well Control Level 3 combined Certification
Fluent in the reading and writing of the English language
Safe kick MPD equipment training
Maersk MPD specific training

OTHER

Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and
Background Check
