What role you will play in our team

 

The Pipeline Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations within facilities & on the right of way. The Technician will have on call emergency responsibilities, with the rotating on call responsibility of weekend/after-hours call outs.  The Technician may be required to provide relief to other Technicians in their work area. Shifts vary by location and are often ten or twelve hours in duration. Technician must be willing to work in the proximity of various hydrocarbon products, electrical circuits, and machinery. This position participates in alcohol and drug testing programs (i.e., DOT and/or Company). Technician will also be required to completing maintenance activities & oversight of contract crews completing work. Technician will also be responsible for pipeline locating/ air patrol sighting inspection & occasional onsite inspection for 3rd party excavation work within ExxonMobil Pipeline Right of Ways.

This role covers areas from Lemont, IL. South to Gibson City, IL. & Mokena IL. to Hammond, IN.

What you will do

 

  • Maintain an incident free workplace by adhering to various Company safety programs
  • Perform Maintenance on Equipment/machinery
  • Read and understand station flow and pipeline alignment drawings
  • Utilize computer software to perform various data input, product tracking, reporting, and company communication
  • Perform facility maintenance, including cleaning facilities, grounds upkeep, painting, mowing, etc.
  • Permit work crews, perform OneCall duties including pipeline locating and air patrol inspections    
  • Ability to learn accurate measurement and sampling of crude oils

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Perform to highest safety standards, including reporting all incidents and discrepancies
  • Motivated individual with integrity and strong work ethic
  • Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively
  • Strong ability to understand/follow written procedures, solid verbal/written communication skills,
  • Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures  
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Robust ability to problem solve/critical thinking, organizational skills, troubleshooting mechanical & electrical equipment
  • Ability to operate hand tools, probe the pipeline and use of other equipment needed to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Working with forklift, snowplowing truck, ladder, lift, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures
  • Must be willing and able to attend / complete required training courses  
  • Must be willing and able to work in small team environments  
  • Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations and callouts within 1 hour of notification
  • Able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • General filing and data entry
  • Must have safe driving skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Seeking an individual who obtains the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, work in various weather conditions, navigate uneven terrain/confined spaces and is physically able to probe pipelines.  
  • Some experience in some construction, utilities, emergency response, or maintenance industry is preferred.
  • Someone who has a knowledge base to read/understand map data/GIS/Alignment sheets/ILI Tool run data, Google Earth etc.
  • Ability to navigate a continuously changing schedule with a moment’s notice.
  • A level of comfort dealing with the public, public officials, and emergency personnel as this is done daily.

  • The expected annual salary range for this position is $109,060.00  – $109,620.00. Individual pay will be determined based on various factors, which may include skills, abilities, qualifications, work experience, and education.

  • Pension Plan: Enrollment is automatic and at no cost to you. The basic benefit is a monthly annuity to be paid to you in retirement for the rest of your life. 
  • Savings Plan: You can contribute between 6% and 20% of your pay and are encouraged to enroll right away. If you contribute at least 6% to your savings plan, the Company will contribute a 7% match.
