Job description

Looking for an engineer with a process or chemical background (mechanical is ok as long as experienced with membranes and separation). 28/28 rotational job in the GOM, can be located anywhere in the US.

Duties:

  • Commissioning, operations and hand-over of membrane package plants.
  • Troubleshooting of plant operational problems
  • Plant data trending and analysis.
  • Supervisory/ Advisory role concerning the efficient running of the client’s operating plant. This will include the evaluation of client operating procedures, supervising and training their site personnel and making recommendations for improvements.
  • To assist in the development and delivery of client training programs.
  • To mentor recently trained local service engineers
  • Undertaking other duties that the Company may require from time to time when not on leave and not required offshore.
  • Have the required competencies to assemble, install, carry out preventive maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and remove and replace, and dissemble instrumentation and control systems and their associated system components.
  • Understand the relevant legislative, regulatory and local requirements or procedures and safe working practices, including their responsibilities with regards to reporting lines and procedures.
  • Understand the preparation and reinstatement requirements in respect of the work area, materials and equipment, and the possible consequences of incorrect actions in these areas.
  • Be able to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, related specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals, and to follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules.
  • Understand which tools and equipment to use, and when, and will follow relevant training, methods and techniques and quality control and safety procedures for their use.
  • Understand their responsibilities for ensuring the care and security of tools and equipment used.
  • Understand the types of defects and testing anomalies that can occur, how to identify them, and what action to take.
  • Diagnose function and test equipment on return to service
  • Be able to handle a range of digital information, technology and equipment to support work related tasks and to communicate information.
  • Technical Competencies
  • Provision of operational and technical support and perform a comprehensive survey for water injection package / plants, typically SWRO and SRP.
  • Operating of plant including evaluation of operating procedures/personnel and recommendations for improvements
  • Exhaustive physical survey of the plant, resulting in recommendations concerning maintenance, health, safety and the environment, As a result of the survey, it shall be produced a punch list weekly updated, detailing the possible causes and best long term solutions for the identified problems, especially for those happening repeatedly.
  • Monitor operation, start-ups and shutdowns to check if the system logic is implemented correctly and all the equipment and systems of the module are integrated. It is also necessary to check if there are unnecessary trips happening to the module that could be prevented by improving the system’s logic and suggest modifications.
  • Assistance during normal operations and the planned maintenance regime with recommendations for improvement reported.
  • Assess capability of operations personnel, with practical training and operational guidance provided as required.
  • Advise when membrane cleaning operations are required and oversee the cleaning operation itself whilst ensuring minimum disruption to plant availability. Recommend cleaning chemicals and products in order to achieve more differential pressure reduction, taking into account the differential pressure, feed pressure and sulphate levels achieved during operation.
  • Monitor filtration and chemistry management, in conjunction with Client’s chemical representative, and modify to protect the clients’ best interests where appropriate.
  • Monitor, in liaison with CLIENT operations, spares/consumables levels and consumption rates with a view to maintaining safe and efficient levels for unhindered operation. Any unexpected rise or fall in expected usage will be analysed.
  • Assistance in planning and implementing the staged membrane change-out, when required, assuring minimum disruption to plant availability.
  • Assess the offshore stock of tools, spares and consumables by reviewing quantity and quality.
