Santos has a regional operating model with a strong local focus. The Company’s operating structure comprises three regional business units focused on enabling and executing corporate strategy. Two divisions – Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids – are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy.

 

Based at Arcadia, with Brisbane as the point-of- hire and reports to Operations Team Leader. The objective of this role is to inspect, test, adjust and repair operational equipment associated with gas production and processing to required standards, as well as position and install equipment and record measurements using precision-measurement tools.

The Operator Maintainer upholds our strong commitments to safety through compliance with EHS standards for performance and behaviour, and managing and promoting risk initiatives, deliverables, and awareness.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Build positive relationships with land holders, and personnel from production, maintenance, operations, facilities, planning, and other corporate and site-based functions. 
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders for the achievement of production and maintenance goals. 
  • Carry out routine plant and field duties such as specified by the daily, weekly and monthly checks and daily schedule through use of OEC. 
  • Partner with field support engineers to resolve maintenance issues before they escalate. 
  • Supervise contractors working on site, and mentor, train and share knowledge with personnel including apentices. 
  • Participate in planning and execution of scheduled shutdowns including unplanned or emergency situations. 
  • Competently monitor/maintain equipment so that operating life is enhanced, and damage is avoided. 
  • Respond in a timely fashion when critical equipment is reported malfunctioning or unserviceable including call outs as required. 
  • Obtain qualification as a Permit Authority, administer Permit to Work system, and warrant that all required Permits to Work are compliant. 
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of maintenance systems and procedures – master data change requests, bill of materials, parts issues, technical instruction reviews – and updates information to ensure it is current and correct. 
  • Act as the Santos point of contact for events, campaigns, and total plant outages as required. 
  • Proactively participate in embedded safety systems and drive our safety culture. 
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all areas of the workplace, and proactively flag any unsafe work, or work environments. 
  • Investigate and report all incidents/accidents/near-miss with speed/accuracy. 
  • Manage EHS risk and promote risk awareness for continual improvement. 
  • Identify ways to create efficiencies, enhance productivity, improve costs, and develop roadmaps for continual improvement initiatives. 
  • Comply with all business plans, schedules, procedures, and policies. 

We are seeking for candidates who have the following skills and experience: 

  • Working experience in oil & gas and/or mining industry preferred.
  • Experience with well surface equipment maintenance such as PCP, LRP, and gas fired generators preferred.
  • Displaying experience and expertise in PLC controls, Variable Speed Drives, motor controls, safety systems, power generators and pneumatic and electronic process control instrumentation
  • Fault diagnosis and repair of instrument and electrical equipment associated with oil and gas production and processing including control systems, process instrumentation and electrical equipment
  • Experience with computerised E-Permit to Work, and maintenance management systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain good levels of physical fitness.
  • Background in CSG systems, tools, and industry standards preferred.
  • Trade qualified/certified essential.  
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
