Owner-Side EPC Contract Lead (Japan / Japanese required)

Why This Role Matters

This role puts you on the Owner’s side, with real authority to shape EPC contracts that make technical, commercial, and financial sense.

You will lead EPC strategy, contract structuring, and negotiations for renewable energy projects—with direct impact on investment decisions and project profitability.

Your role;

• Participate from the earliest project development phase
• Define EPC strategy from an Owner/Investor perspective
• Lead technical and commercial negotiations with top-tier global EPC contractors
• Act as the gatekeeper of cost and risk, directly influencing investment approval

Key Responsibilities

1. EPC Strategy Design (Owner Perspective)

• Design EPC procurement and contract strategies based on:
  • Power source (solar, wind, etc.)
  • Region and regulatory context
  • Technology maturity
  • Schedule and execution risk
• Determine optimal contracting approach (lump-sum, split packages, JV, etc.)

2. Tender & Negotiation Process Leadership

• Prepare ITB / RFP documents (technical + commercial)
• Develop EPC shortlists
• Design step-by-step negotiation scenarios, separating technical and commercial leverage

3. Core Contract Negotiation 

You will negotiate the most critical EPC contract terms, including:

• Contract price structure and risk allocation
• Schedule commitments and LDs (delay, performance)
• Performance guarantees and quality standards
• Liability scope and caps
• Payment terms and cash-flow mechanics

4. Contract Execution & Post-Award Support

• Finalize EPC contracts under optimal commercial conditions
• Ensure contracts remain “living documents” during construction
• Support issue resolution from a contractual perspective during execution
