We are looking for an experienced paralegal to join our dynamic Downstream Canada legal team. In this role, you will provide legal support and commercial input on a broad range of matters relating to our asset management team in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

You may use your expertise to: 

  • Prepare or review legal documents pertaining to real-estate and commercial transactions for the Province of Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, mortgages, easements and releases 
  • Communicate with external stakeholders, including registries, government agencies and third-party legal advisors 
  • Obtain and/or verify property cadastral description
  • Explain and train members of Suncor’s business units on legal documentation templates, and participate in standardizing legal documents and processes
  • Conduct various Land Register and Infolot searches, and participate in real estate due diligence 
  • Prepare and register notices (lease, contamination / decontamination) 
  • Prepare various corporate documents (declarations, forms, resolutions, notices, etc.)
  • Knowledge management, including the organization of the group precedents and the updating of internal directories 
  • Proactively identify and manage areas of legal risk 
  • Support Suncor Legal Counsel on other related tasks 

We’d like to review your application if you have…

  • Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Paralegal Technology or a certificate in law, or any other combination of training or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a similar position
  • Proficient in searching databases of the Land Register, Infolot, Register of personal and movable real rights, SOQUIJ-Azimut (court records) and the Québec enterprise register
  • Bilingual (French-English), oral and written
  • Drafting and legal research skills
  • Excellent organization skills, management of priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • A high degree of flexibility and ability to readily adapt to changes in Suncor’s business priorities and plans
  • The ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Montreal office, located 11701 Sherbrooke Street East, Montreal, Quebec H1B 1C3
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
