Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Planner/Scheduler to work on a 12-month contract in Houston, TX.


  • Responsibilities include the development and monitoring of both summary level and detailed schedules.
  • Setup and lead interactive planning sessions for small, medium, and large projects and function as an active participant in interactive planning sessions for very large (mega) projects.
  • Work independently to track physical earned progress for small, medium, and large size projects along with identification of delays.
  • Review work products with senior project leaders, department leaders, and company management. Occasionally review the work product of others. Extensive interface with project management, engineering discipline leaders, procurement management, construction management, and subcontracts group.
  • Lead project schedule status meetings on small, medium, and large projects and function as an active participant in schedule status meetings for very large (mega) projects.
  • Occasionally lead schedule status meetings on very large (mega) projects.
  • Assist in development of department initiatives related to planning tools and go-by schedule and progress measurement templates.
  • Regularly lead other schedulers on a project. Occasionally mentor other schedulers and planners directly and indirectly.
  • Ensure the Planning & Scheduling project team follows all department procedures, guidelines, tools, and work methods when acting as the project lead. If deviations from standard procedures, guidelines, tools, or work methods are required, work with the Planning & Scheduling department manager to obtain approval.


  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of planning & scheduling experience in the energy industry
  • Extensive experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Experience with scheduling and progress measurement of the engineering, procurement, and construction work processes
  • Advanced skills with MS Excel software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Significant experience with multi-office execution and module fabrication yard execution
  • Experience working on a field construction site or in a module yard fabrication facility
  • Experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) execution approach
  • Working knowledge of MS Access software
  • Working knowledge of MS Power BI software
  • Significant experience with MS PowerPoint software
  • Experience using Primavera P6 in a collaborative environment with suppliers, partners, subcontractors, or clients.
  • Significant experience with in-house and third-party progress measurement software
  • Experience with quantitative risk analysis techniques for schedules
  • Experience with the change management process and its impact on plans and schedules
  • Experience with construction and commissioning scheduling
  • Experience with 4D Material and Systems (4DMS) software
  • AACE International certification or significant knowledge of AACE recommended practices in the areas of Planning & Scheduling or general Project Controls
  • Experience working on projects in the energy transition business
